Setting Up Aggregations Between Portfolios and Entities

Overview

Aggregation determines how portfolios, entities and umbrellas are linked within FundApps to represent your firm's corporate hierarchy. This hierarchy is used when calculating reporting obligations. This article explains how to configure aggregation using either the UI or the Portfolio Import process.

For information pertaining to the conceptual framework behind FundApps aggregation functionality or to learn how to create and edit portfolios/entities, please see these useful articles:

Accessing the Aggregation Tab

Log in to your environment and navigate to the Portfolio & Entities screen via the folder icon in the top-right corner of the navigation bar.

Click into one of your existing portfolios, entities, or umbrellas. Select the Aggregations tab on the left side to adjust the aggregation structure.

Through drop-down menus, users can create and modify the firm’s internal hierarchy, which determines reporting obligations. FundApps offers two methods for providing your company’s corporate hierarchy information: UI and Import. Depending on the complexity of the firm's structure, please select the method that best suits your firm.

Note: As portfolios, umbrellas, and entities can be part of multiple aggregations, clients are responsible for correctly choosing a parent for each.

UI Method (for simpler aggregation structures)

The UI Method is a manual method for linking existing portfolios, umbrellas, and entities to depict your firm’s internal hierarchy structure. For each entity, portfolio, and umbrella, access the Aggregation tab and select a parent entity in the drop-down menu.

Import Method (for complex aggregation structures)

In cases where it is not prudent to manually create aggregation structures, you can import a portfolio file with your aggregation instead. If your firm is utilising the Import Method, please complete the appropriate PortfolioId in each applicable column of the Portfolio Upload File Template and upload to FundApps via the Import button.
